Former NFL Punter Pat McAfee said on his podcast, The Pat McAfee Show 2.0, “The only difference between good quarterbacks and great quarterbacks is this: Consistency”. He went on to talk about how any player can have a good week at practice or in a game, but great quarterbacks rarely have bad weeks. This idea of consistency is essential in the workplace as well. Here at Mettle Ops, we have monthly performance reviews as well as weekly meetings which aim to foster consistent communication about problems, deadlines, and solutions to the problems. The consistency of these meetings means that problems can be found earlier and therefore solutions put into effect faster. Personally, consistency is also essential. So many people will set impressive goals on January 1st for fitness, academic, or other personal achievements. This is seen by the local fitness center being packed after new year’s. However, most of these new year resolutions fail because of the lack of consistency. For example, whether you want to bench 315 lbs., run a 5k, or simply walk a mile without getting winded, your first day of trying to reach that goal will probably yield little to no progress. However, if you stay consistent with your plan to reach your goal, sooner or later you will start seeing progress and before you know it, you will have reached your goal. All this points to one idea: Consistency is the key that unlocks your potential. No matter what your goals are as a person or a company, consistently sticking to the plan to reach that goal is the key ingredient to success.
