I recently connected with an old friend of mine and as we spent some time catching up, our conversation veered toward all the events we had attended. Whether it was driving on Woodward during the Dream Cruise in his new Corvette, which he allowed me to drive, or to the many concerts, comedy shows etc…that we went to, those individual details of those fun times was again, another great memory!
At one point, he reminded me of a concert at Meadow Brook where we moved toward the stage from Row 21 to Row 7. He remembered every detail, but I could not recall the specifics he referenced. As he was 100% certain, I mentioned that I kept all my ticket stubs, and I would look for it. So last weekend, I opened the box and went through the contents. It contained all the ticket stubs / receipts for every concert and event I have attended…and I did indeed find the stub for Meadow Brook. As I continued to examine each stub, I found it such a cool way to remember all those fantastic memories.
I am still in shock that I’ve seen the Rolling Stones four (4) times!!...or Van Halen three (3) times, Jerry Seinfeld three (3) times. I think the concert scene was a little more affordable in years past. There are some artists I don’t recall seeing and since I didn’t drink and being the designated driver, I will say that was a little baffling…but further conversations with my friend brought out the needed details of those events. The point I am making is that with such a simple item as a ticket stub, that small piece of paper can act as a gateway to enjoying those memories again.
In 2024, people are increasingly eliminating their need for paper verification on all levels. Keeping your concert / event ticket stubs and not making everything a link on your phone, allows you the opportunity to reminisce with that “paper” ticket stub in a way that’s impossible with a “QR code.” Everything has its place, but I will make the case to print out and keep those tickets stubs for some great reminiscing in the future.
