NIST…. CMMC …. OH MY!

NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC is not anything new unless you’ve had your head in a hole. I’ve heard these statements or a derivative of them time and time again on social media or during conferences/webinars over the past two years…

  • It costs too much

  • It’s going to kill small business

  • We will wait it out and it will go away

  • Keep up the complaints and they will relax the requirements

If you’ve been working in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) for any amount of time, you know there is a laundry list of different certifications and requirements that you have to follow in order to do business with the Department of Defense (DOD) or other Government agencies. I’m talking about your flavor of ISO, AS9100, FAR, OTA, CMMI, FEDRAMP, ITAR, and so many more. There is a cost to doing business these days, so why not embrace NIST and CMMC in the same manner that you would for the other certifications that make your business successful?

It’s time to put on your BIG BOY or BIG GIRL pants and accept the fact that this isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, we believe this will spread to other industries and areas that impact your business, so don’t listen to all the naysayers and negative Nancy’s on why it’s wrong and figure it out.

NUDG was co-developed and designed as a tool for internal use. We have since expanded the capabilities of the program management tool and are in the development process of NUDG 3.0. Veronica Baginski, Director of Marketing and Sales, has been working this program from the very beginning and has a firm grasp on the requirements. You can request a tour of our tool at https://www.nudgsystems.com/demo.

Veronica will walk you through the tool and answer any questions you may have on NUDG or NIST/CMMC in general.

If you are looking for an independent source of truth and don’t know where to start, I suggest a call to your local PTAC. Our local office is one of the best in the nation and they have provided a lot of great information on this subject and more.
