“…the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
— Job 1:21

In memory of Solomon Job (May 1, 2024), you were loved and will never be forgotten! We are thankful that you are safe in the arms of our loving Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and we eagerly look forward to meeting and spending eternity in Heaven with you.

Every day, people deal with grief, suffering and hardship. It’s an unfortunate part of living in a sin-cursed world. We know it exists and is inescapable, yet it always seems to take us off guard. I personally find it even more complicated when I can’t “fix it” or “remove the pain for the people I love.” So, how should I encourage someone carrying a heavy burden? Often, I find words are not the answer. Though heartfelt, they don’t remove the pain. They don’t bring the loved one back. They don’t right a wrong. Hurting hearts seek something no human being can give. They seek comfort, sustaining grace, and a peace that surpasses all understanding. These can only come from God!

Bible Verses will encourage and are good reminders when facing uncertainty and pain. They are vivid reminders that we are not in this alone and that God will never leave or forsake us during overwhelming and difficult times. It is helpful to approach from different perspectives.

Solomon’s Perspective: He never had to deal with the sin of this world and was completely satisfied when He awoke in Christ’s likeness.

Psalm 17:15: “As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.”

Parent’s Perspective: As believers in Christ, there is ALWAYS HOPE!

Psalm 34:18: “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted….”

Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

Psalm 18:2: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-5: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we are comforted by God.”

God’s Perspective: It is precious in God’s sight when he is reunited with his children.

Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”

During times like these, I remember the song " You Are Always Good” (lyrics below). God is not good because He gives us what we want—He is good because He gives us what is best! I KNOW that God and his loving care can bring hope during difficult times! He is ALWAYS GOOD!

You are Always Good. Words by Chris Anderson; Music by Jonathan Hamilton

Looking back, I can see Your fingerprints
Upon my life, always seeking my best.
There were times when Your way would make no sense,
But as You said, You have never left.

Chorus:
You are always good, You are only good;
You are always good to me.
Though my eyes can’t see, help my heart believe
You are always, only good.

Looking in, I can see my frailty;
My sin is great, and my strength is so small.
Still You stay, and Your mercy shelters me;
You hold my hand, and You hear my call.

Looking up, I can see Your sympathy;
I doubt myself, but I’m sure of Your love.
Lavish grace was poured out at Calvary,
Securing me for our home above.
