Time, Our Greatest Asset

Written by Anne Walter

Seriously, is 50% of 2024 already gone?  Everyone echoes the same sentiment that time flies by too quickly, but this year, it’s been unprecedented.  I thought about what I wanted to accomplish by now and I am behind schedule.  Where have the last five (5) months gone??

Having recently attended the funeral of a family member who passed suddenly, I found myself revisiting those thoughts about the passage of time and really, how little time we have.  It’s funny how when we are young, we long to be grown up and it’s quite reversed when we do!  Seeing all the pictures of family members in those early years was nostalgic and heartwarming, a strong reminder of the importance of family, friends and the love that binds us all together.

Attending this funeral, which was full of grief and emotion, always initiates a review and reassessment of certain priorities and certainly the concept of “time.”  A few days later, I took a moment to step back and revisit how well I’m using my time each day, throughout the week and beyond.  Like the financial advisor who reminds us to routinely look at the current distribution of our monetary holdings.

I consider time to be my most valuable asset and so I ask myself, “am I still on track with my time-related goals?”
